With so many styles, colors and brands to choose from, glasses can be the perfect facial accessory! However, when it comes to makeup, it can be hard to know what colors will complement not only your glasses, but your face too. Glasses can be chic and add to your appearance, but they do bring up some concerns when it comes to applying makeup.

Here are 6 makeup tips and tricks to consider when wearing glasses that will help you to look your best!

1. Neutral Colors

When you’re not sure what to do with your makeup, it’s never a bad idea to stick to neutral palettes. If your frames are a bold color, using neutrals, especially around the eye area, will prevent clashing and allow your glasses to be the focal point. When selecting a shadow to go with your glasses, choose a color that also complements your eyes instead of competing with your frames. Since wearing glasses already draws a lot of attention to the eyes, it can be a good idea to keep eye makeup simple. While less is more, don’t be afraid to experiment! Trying something you’re not sure about may end up being your go-to look.

2. Bold Lips

Save bright, bold colors for your lips! If you have bold frames, a bold lip not only looks great, but it will create balance. It’s more than okay to match your frame color to your lip color!

3. Mascara

Is there such a thing as too much mascara? We don’t think so! After all, who doesn’t love big, bold lashes? After curling your lashes, use voluminous mascara to thicken your lashes so they will pop from behind your glasses. We even suggest putting on two coats. Full, natural-looking lashes can also be achieved through a prescription treatment we provide called Latisse. It is applied topically to the base of the lashes once a day to help eyelashes grow longer, fuller and darker. Visible results can be seen after just 4 weeks. While it is not a replacement for mascara, it can help create that extra oomph.

4. Eyebrows

Glasses may frame your face shape but eyebrows frame your eyes and your glasses. They become more important when you wear glasses because they draw attention to the upper area of your face. Be sure to maintain them so they are always well defined. There are many products available today from pencils to gels and powders that can help you achieve the brows you want. 5. Cat Eye

Whether you wear glasses or not, a cat eye looks good on everyone. It’s a go-to look for eyeliner. A cat eye line draws your eyes up and makes them appear larger. The thicker your frames, the thicker you can make your eyeliner. Creating a line that is relative in thickness to your frames will help to create a balanced look around your eyes and will also add definition.

6. Eye Highlighter

Glasses can cast shadows under the eye. Using a little bit of shimmery highlighter under the eyes can help to combat areas of darkness and brighten up your eyes. You can also brighten your eyes by applying white eyeliner to the inner corners of your eyes. If you have a lot of under eye darkness, you want to avoid putting liner on your lower lid because this will only draw more attention to the area.

Follow these tips and your eyes are sure to stand out from behind your frames!
