UPGRADE YOUR VISION, UPGRADE YOUR LIFE

LASIK in Livingston, NJ

What is LASIK?

LASIK is a safe and effective treatment for correcting common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

LASIK can eliminate the need to rely on glasses and contact lenses by permanently restoring your vision.

During laser eye surgery, lasers are used to cut and reshape the cornea. Reshaping the cornea will allow your eye to better focus light rays onto the retina, which will significantly improve your vision. The corneal flap gets lifted as the cornea gets reshaped before it is closed back and begins to heal on its own. Numbing eye drops make the procedure virtually painless and a lot more comfortable. LASIK only takes about fifteen minutes from start to finish and the results are permanent and life-lasting. Results typically yield 20/20 vision or better.

For A Limited Time

Serious side effects of LASIK are extremely rare. Irritation and sensitivity experienced in the first few days following the procedure are not uncommon and are expected to improve during recovery.

While glare, halos and dry eyes can be experienced after having vision correction surgery, these effects are temporary and should disappear in the first few months following the procedure. We advise you to take it easy for the first two weeks following the procedure to allow for optimal recovery while your vision stabilizes.

The IntraLase FS laser is a highly precise tool aiding in corneal flap creation, the first step in laser vision correction surgery. During the procedure, the IntraLase laser fires 15,000 pulses per second into the cornea, where the flap can be created at a depth and diameter determined by the surgeon as appropriate for each individual patient. In addition to benefiting from this pinpoint (2-3 micron) accuracy, patients who undergo surgery conducted with the IntraLase laser are less likely to need an enhancement (follow-up) procedure than with other technologies.

Dr. Andrew Miller is an experienced, board-certified LASIK surgeon who has performed thousands of highly successful laser eye surgeries to clients throughout the Livingston and greater New Jersey areas in his 10 years of experience. iLASIK by AMO

iLASIK is the most advanced and safest method of LASIK currently available. iLASIK incorporates several of the newest advancements into one streamlined procedure.

Standard iLASIK is a 3 Step Procedure:A flap is created on the surface of the cornea.

  1. A flap is created on the surface of the cornea.
  2. A computer-controlled excimer laser is then used to remove the proper amount of corneal tissue. In less than one minute, the excimer laser reshapes the internal layers of the cornea.
  3. The thin flap of corneal tissue is then folded back into its original position, where it bonds after only a few minutes of drying.

iLASIK takes the original LASIK surgery and upgrades it to make it even more safe and effective by adding custom treatment with wavefront mapping and IntraLase™.

LASIK is a safe and effective treatment for correcting common vision problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, eliminating the need to rely on glasses and contacts to see clearly.

The procedure is fast, typically lasting about 10 to 15 minutes per eye.

Anesthetic drops are placed in your eyes to numb them and eliminate any pain during the procedure. Most LASIK patients report little to no discomfort after their surgery.

Like any surgical procedure, there are some risks associated with LASIK surgery. Some patients experience dry eye after their LASIK procedure, which can be relieved through the use of eye drops and should disappear over time. Other symptoms and side effects include seeing glare and halos around lights, typically at night. This usually lessens and disappears over time as well.

Yes. Most surgeons will perform LASIK on both eyes in a single procedure.

In most cases, patients recover and can begin seeing results from their LASIK surgery within 24 hours, and most people will even return to work the next day. Individuals can begin to wear makeup again about one week after surgery. Make sure to purchase new makeup after your surgery to reduce the risk of infection.

Most side effects, such as dry eye, halos and glare should be gone 6 months after your surgery.

Wear comfortable clothing the day of your scheduled surgery. Do not wear any perfumes, lotions, or fragrances on your surgery day. Fortunately, there are no eating or drinking restrictions prior to LASIK surgery. If any medications are taken within 24 hours of the scheduled surgery, please notify your doctor and surgeon immediately. Please make sure to prepare appropriate transportation to and from your surgery. Driving is not permitted after the completion of your surgery. For more information on how to prepare for your LASIK surgery, please see Before and After Your Surgery.

A small flap will be created in the top of the cornea. With the newly exposed area of the cornea underneath the flap, a computer positions a laser to reshape the cornea to correct the vision problem. The flap is then repositioned and forms over the lasered area naturally (no stitches or bandages are required in the procedure).

After your LASIK procedure, your surgeon will administer ointment or eye drops in your eyes. You may experience improved vision immediately after your surgery, but it will improve even more after you go home and rest for a few hours.

No. Driving directly after undergoing LASIK eye surgery is strictly prohibited. Your eyes will be irritated and sensitive to light hours after your surgery. Please make sure to organize the appropriate transportation arrangements to and from your surgery. You may resume driving when your eyes have healed and you feel comfortable with your vision.
