The procedure is fast, typically lasting about 10 to 15 minutes per eye.

Anesthetic drops are placed in your eyes to numb them and eliminate any pain during the procedure. Most LASIK patients report little to no discomfort after their surgery.

Like any surgical procedure, there are some risks associated with LASIK surgery. Some patients experience dry eye after their LASIK procedure, which can be relieved through the use of eye drops and should disappear over time. Other symptoms and side effects include seeing glare and halos around lights, typically at night. This usually lessens and disappears over time as well.

Yes. Most surgeons will perform LASIK on both eyes in a single procedure.

In most cases, patients recover and can begin seeing results from their LASIK surgery within 24 hours, and most people will even return to work the next day. Individuals can begin to wear makeup again about one week after surgery. Make sure to purchase new makeup after your surgery to reduce the risk of infection.

Most side effects, such as dry eye, halos and glare should be gone 6 months after your surgery.

Wear comfortable clothing the day of your scheduled surgery. Do not wear any perfumes, lotions, or fragrances on your surgery day. Fortunately, there are no eating or drinking restrictions prior to LASIK surgery. If any medications are taken within 24 hours of the scheduled surgery, please notify your doctor and surgeon immediately. Please make sure to prepare appropriate transportation to and from your surgery. Driving is not permitted after the completion of your surgery. If you have a medical history of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, keratoconus or presbyopia, you may be eligible to undergo LASIK surgery. People between 18 to 70 years of age can undergo LASIK surgery. Those over 70 years of age may be candidates, depending on the eye and overall medical health of the individual patient. Many seniors experience cataracts and will find that Laser Cataract Surgery is a better option for correcting their vision. Our doctors will be happy to discuss the best option for you.

A small flap will be created in the top of the cornea. With the newly exposed area of the cornea underneath the flap, a computer positions a laser to reshape the cornea to correct the vision problem. The flap is then repositioned and forms over the lasered area naturally (no stitches or bandages are required in the procedure).

After your LASIK procedure, your surgeon will administer ointment or eye drops in your eyes. You may experience improved vision immediately after your surgery, but it will improve even more after you go home and rest for a few hours.

No. Driving directly after undergoing LASIK eye surgery is strictly prohibited. Your eyes will be irritated and sensitive to light hours after your surgery. Please make sure to organize the appropriate transportation arrangements to and from your surgery. You may resume driving when your eyes have healed and you feel comfortable with your vision.
