A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the front of the eye. Most people develop cataracts simply as a result of aging, with the majority of cases occurring in people over the age of 55. During cataract replacement, the lens is removed and replaced with an artificial one called an intraocular lens or IOL.

Symptoms can vary between patients but include:

Andrew I. Miller is an experienced, board-certified, fellowship-trained corneal, refractive (LASIK), and cataract surgeon who has successfully performed thousands of vision correction surgeries over the 20 years he has been in practice. He has been actively involved in clinical research involving refractive surgery. He continues to train young physicians in the arts of cataract and refractive surgery.
Request a Cataract EvaluationThe PanOptix Trifocal IOL is the first and only trifocal lens approved for use in the United States. Many patients who receive the PanOptix trifocal IOL find they rarely need to wear glasses.
The PanOptix trifocal IOL is the only lens that provides seamless vision for patients at all distances. This includes near, far, and intermediate vision.
The Vivity IOL is the first and only non-diffractive extended depth of focus lens. It uses X-WAVE technology to provide patients with monofocal quality distance vision and excellent intermediate vision without sacrificing functional near vision.
The Vivity IOL also reduces visual disturbances like glare, starbursts, and halos.
The Synergy IOL combines diffractive and refractive optics to achieve a continuous range of vision while maintaining image quality and contrast sensitivity. This lens has a high patient satisfaction rate and can significantly reduce your dependence on glasses following cataract surgery.
The Synergy IOL also comes in a toric option for those with astigmatism.
The TECNIS Symfony OptiBlue IOL is a new extended-depth-of-focus (EDOF) lens that utilizes InteliLight technology. The TECNIS Symfony OptiBlue IOL integrates three of the company's technologies: violet-light filter, echelette design, and achromatic technology, which were initially employed in the TECNIS Synergy IOL.
By incorporating a violet-light filter, the IOL obstructs the shortest wavelengths of light, while the echelette design mitigates light scattering and halo intensity. Additionally, the achromatic technology rectifies chromatic aberration to enhance contrast during both daytime and nighttime.
At Associates in Ophthalmology, we also offer a toric Symfony with OptiBlue IOL.
The enVista toric lens provides astigmatism correction and the ability to absorb ultraviolet light. The IOL gives patients clearer vision and better visual acuity.
With the enVista toric IOL, you'll have sharply defined vision while no longer needing to worry about astigmatism after cataract surgery.
Associates in Ophthalmology has been providing eye care and vision correction services for over 30 years. Offering state-of-the-art eye surgery technology combined with patient-focused practices, our ophthalmologists and optometrists are dedicated to providing the best possible solution to your specific eye care needs.
Associates in Ophthalmology is proud to be one of the first medical offices in New Jersey to offer laser cataract surgery with the Catalys® Precision Laser System. Catalys presents a new standard in precision cataract surgery, providing a highly customized, gentle cataract procedure that offers precision not previously possible with other manual techniques.
We also use the WaveTec ORA System, which stands for Optiwave Refractive Analysis. The WaveTec ORA System is an advanced optical device used during the replacement of the lens of the eye in cataract surgery.
Using ORA offers patients the most customized, accurate treatment options available, which can result in a better outcome and higher post-surgery satisfaction.
